New York bakery specializing in ‘low-fat donuts’ goes bust
In news that would surprise absolutely nobody, ever, a donut store in Manhattan’s Seventh Avenue that specialized in baking low fat and low calorie treats went bankrupt after one year of operations.
The outlet was the first physical location for Holey Donuts, a bakery that previously exclusively handled all business through online orders.
The owners had signed a a ten-year lease for the premises, which had previously been occupied by a cupcake shop (a business that also apparently failed, after just three months).
Unfortunately it appears that customers didn’t rush to grab the healthier treats from Holey Donuts’ first physical store, and the property ended up being seized by the City Marshal’s Office.
The lesson any budding bakers in the Big Apple: if you’re planning on opening a bakery, stick to one that is full fat & sugar!
Social media users have predictably commented on the story to joke about the proprietor’s lack of success. “A donut shop serving healthy donuts!? That’s like a barbecue restaurant only serving salads,” wrote one German Facebook user.
